Terms of Service

Last updated: June 8, 2025

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Scholora website and related services. By using Scholora, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

About Scholora

Scholora connects students with expert tutors for languages, exam preparation, coding, and core subjects, online or in person. Scholora facilitates introductions, bookings, and support, but tutors deliver instruction independently unless otherwise stated in writing.

Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or enter into a service agreement on your own behalf
  • Parents or legal guardians may register and manage accounts for learners under 18
  • Tutors must provide accurate qualifications, identity, and background information during onboarding

Accounts and accurate information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it updated. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

Services and bookings

  • Lesson availability, pricing, format, and subject coverage may vary by tutor and location
  • A booking is confirmed only when Scholora or the assigned tutor confirms it in writing or through the platform
  • You are responsible for attending sessions on time and providing a suitable learning environment for online lessons
  • Tutors are expected to prepare adequately, communicate professionally, and deliver sessions as agreed

Payments, fees, and refunds

Fees, payment methods, and billing terms will be communicated before you confirm a booking or purchase. Unless otherwise stated, payments are due as specified at checkout or in your service agreement.

Refund and cancellation policies may vary depending on the service purchased. Any published refund policy at the time of purchase applies. We may also offer goodwill adjustments in exceptional circumstances at our discretion.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Scholora for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or misleading purposes
  • Harass, abuse, discriminate against, or endanger tutors, students, staff, or other users
  • Share account access, impersonate another person, or misrepresent your identity or qualifications
  • Upload malware, attempt unauthorised access, or interfere with the operation or security of our services
  • Circumvent Scholora to arrange paid lessons with tutors introduced through the platform without honouring applicable fees or policies

Tutor relationship

Tutors engaged through Scholora are expected to comply with our tutor standards and applicable laws. Unless expressly stated otherwise, tutors are independent service providers and not employees, partners, or agents of Scholora.

Intellectual property

The Scholora name, branding, website content, and materials we provide are owned by Scholora or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or exploit our content without prior written permission.

Tutors retain ownership of their original teaching materials unless they agree otherwise with students or Scholora.

Educational outcomes and disclaimers

Scholora helps learners access quality tutoring, but we do not guarantee specific grades, exam results, fluency levels, or learning outcomes. Educational progress depends on many factors, including student effort, attendance, and preparation.

Our services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scholora and its directors, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from your use of our services.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the services will not exceed the amount you paid to Scholora for the specific service giving rise to the claim during the three months before the event, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to our services if you breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for Scholora, or if we discontinue all or part of the platform. You may stop using our services at any time.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide otherwise.

Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Scholora after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
